Loula Foundation
Loula Foundation offers peer support workforce development trainings for individuals seeking to pursue peer roles within recovery, behavioral health, and mental health systems in Texas. Our trainings are grounded in lived experience, ethical practice, and recovery-oriented support while aligning with state and certification requirements.
Loula Foundation trainings are educational and participation-based. Completion of training does not guarantee certification, employment, or credential approval.
Training Programs Offered
Core Peer Support Training (3 Days)
The Core Peer Support Training provides foundational knowledge required for peer support roles. Participants learn recovery principles, ethics, boundaries, effective communication, and the responsible use of lived experience in peer work.
Fee: $300
Recovery Support Peer Specialist (RSPS) Training (5 Days)
The RSPS Training prepares participants for recovery support roles within substance use recovery systems. Training focuses on advocacy, ethical peer support, recovery pathways, and navigating support systems.
Fee: $600
Mental Health Peer Specialist (MHPS) Training (5 Days)
The MHPS Training prepares participants for peer roles within mental health systems. Topics include person-centered support, mental health advocacy, trauma-informed approaches, and collaboration within behavioral health settings.
Fee: $600
Internship Supervision
Loula Foundation offers supervision for the required 250 internship hours associated with the peer certification process.
Fee: $300
HHSC Required Orientation & Documentation
Applicants must complete required Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) components as part of the peer certification process.

Completion of these items is mandatory and may be required prior to or during training participation.
Attendance & Participation Requirements
All Loula Foundation trainings are participation-based and require full attendance.
Participants must:
- Attend the entire training
- Be visible on camera at all times
- Actively participate in required activities
- Complete any post-tests or skills demonstrations required by the curriculum
Partial credit is not awarded for late arrival, early departure, partial attendance, or incomplete participation.
Fees & Payment Information
Training Fees
- Core Training (3 Days): $300
- RSPS Training (5 Days): $600
- MHPS Training (5 Days): $600
- Internship Supervision (250 Hours): $300
Refund & Cancellation Policy
- A non-refundable 25% deposit is required to secure a training seat
- Cancellations made 14 days or more prior to training may receive a refund minus the deposit
- Cancellations made less than 14 days prior to training are non-refundable
- No refunds for no-shows or partial attendance
- If Loula Foundation cancels a training, participants may receive a full refund or transfer
Scholarships
Scholarships may be available on a limited and periodic basis depending on funding availability. Scholarships are not guaranteed and may vary by training. Availability will be communicated during registration when applicable.

Applicants must complete the Loula Foundation Training Application to be considered for enrollment.

The Loula Foundation is an approved training entity through the Texas Certification Board. All training instructors are certified and approved by the Texas Certification Board. Training Entity Certification Number: 1055-25.
